Open weekend for new members at January meet

Our first meet of 2018 is open to any prospective new members who want to come and experience a meet. The hut we have booked, Bryn Hafod is in a great location in Snowdonia, and at just £10 per night its an inexpensive way to get out into the mountains. Activities will be weather dependant, but likely to be walking, with mountain bike options nearby. There are no requirements to live in Rugby and we welcome all levels of fitness and experience. Cwm Eigiau hut - 50th Anniversary

29th April 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Rugby MC hut at Cwm Eigiau, Conwy Valley. To mark this special occasion we are having a meet at the hut on the anniversary, with a celebratory dinner and hopefully some walking and climbing thrown in.

The hut has claims to be the oldest mountaineering hut in Great Britain, being opened by the Rucksack Club in 1912, but has not had continuous use over that period, falling into disrepair in the 1920s. You can read about the history of the hut in the links below. You can also read a history of club and hut development in the UK here
